Researchers hunt for 17th century ‘witch bottles’

Researchers from the university of Hertfordshire and MOLA (Museum of London Archaeology) are on the hunt for people who may have found objects that could be considered ‘witch bottles’ during any renovation or building work.

‘Witch bottles’ are stone or glass containers that were often concealed in walls, under floors or in hearths. Their purpose was to ward off witchcraft.
